We Are One Body

I strongly believe in the power of prayer. My mom and dad completely believe that I am here today because of those praying for me when I was not yet born. I usually pray by myself and use it as a personal tool to pray for those around me. Today, however, I wanted to ask for prayers for a few people who really could use the extra help.

Please pray for my mom, she is so strong and tries to keep going with her life as normal as possible even though she has been struggling with pain since her kidney surgery 3 years ago. She visits doctor and after doctor and they try new things and do new tests and never come up with an answer that they can all agree on. Please pray that we find out an answer and she can move on with her life.

Please pray for my future sister-in-law's mom (Jessica is Adam's oldest bro's Tony's wife). Her mom has been diagnosed with End Stage Liver Disease. She is very sick. She is waiting for a donor, but it will probably be many years before she receives one from a deceased donor. More than 16,000 people await Liver transplants at one time and usually only about 5,000 occur. A living donor is an option and is hoping that someone with Blood Type O will be screened and be a match. Please continue to pray for her.

Please pray for my church as we are in a time of transition as our current pastor moves on to a new church after 12 years here and we welcome a new pastor as our leader. Change is never easy and there is unrest among those who have a different agenda than the majority.

Please pray for my friend Erin and her husband Ted as they try to conceive. They are going to be wonderful parents and I know it breaks her heart every month when they haven't succeeded.
May the Lord look down on your family in good favor for your dream of a child. This is a precious gift of love to the world and your family. May you look to the Lord for your spiritual needs and may you blessed with a healthy pregnancy and baby. This is an extension of yourselves to share and enjoy.

I will continue to pray that all of my friends and family stay safe and healthy and I thank God that I have these people in my life.

I received this email not long ago, passed it on, but also thought it could be shared here:

Why Go To Church?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all."

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor.

It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:"I've been married for 30 years now... In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this... They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to live my life. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"

Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment!

"When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say, "Jesus, could you get that for me?"

I will end this post with a YouTube video of my favorite song. When our youth choir sings it at church, it always gives me the chills. I was able to hear it this weekend at the Confirmation Mass (I am Kailey's sponsor) and I just love to sing it. (This video isn't my church, just some talented singers on YouTube!)

Are there any other prayer requests today?
