Foray into Sewing-First Time and Apron

I have been wanting to try  my hand at sewing for quite a while, so for Christmas I asked for a sewing machine. I was a little afraid to try it, but I finally busted it out in February. I have been pinning all kinds of sewing tutorials.

The first night I busted it out and sat and stared at it for a while.
Kristin was on speed dial to help me get through setting it all up!

I was pretty excited that I loaded the bobbin!

I tried my hand at sewing straight line and zig zag lines.

My first official project was to make curtains for the bookshelves in my classroom. I was pretty excited to have made something!

My next project was to try an apron for Heidi for part of her bridal shower gift. I wanted to delve right into making something! I found a tutorial that seemed pretty simple and clear for a beginner.

The Fabric

Make the front and the back.

Trying out the embroidery feature.

Trying it on! I decided to sew a line down the middle of the front pocket so that it was actually two pockets. The apron Kristin made me for my bridal shower had 2 and it comes in really handy. I usually put my phone in one to keep it clean while baking!

Heidi with her bridal shower gift. I got her baking and cooking related kitchen items and made her a cookbook of my favorite recipes!
