Elijah: 20 Weeks

Weight: No update
Height: No update
Clothes: Same: 6-9 months clothes. 12 month pants fit better. Sometimes if I want you to wear a specific pair of 9 pants that are too small, we will put you in a disposable so they fit.
Diapers: We put an extra insert in your nighttime diapers to help you stay dry. Also, you love to go number 2 in the Mamaroo when you are watching me get ready in the morning. Silly boy!
Sleep: Last week we transitioned you into the Zipadeezip for naps and this weekend for night time. Since you can roll, we don't think it is safe for you to be in your Woombie anymore. The Zippy is supposed to help when you flail your arms out. The transition is actually going OK. At night you are in the cradle instead of the Co-Sleeper now; you were getting too big! Your naps and nighttime sleep vary every day. Sometimes your naps are short power naps, but sometimes we get a 2 hour nap still. At night sometimes you will sleep until 4:00 am, and other times only until midnight. A few times you have woken up upset, but after being rocked for a minute you fell right back asleep. You are waking up several times and mama is tired!
Eating: You aren't drinking anything when Mama is at work. Also, you are VERY busy and paying attention to everything around you. Sometimes it is hard to get you to eat. You won't nurse in public anymore because there's too much to see and you are having NONE of the nursing cover. This weekend we gave you a Breastmilk Popsicle and you thought it was AWESOME! Well at first you were were startled by the cold, but then you ate the rest!
Likes: You LOVE sitting in your high chair at the table with us. You are pretty sure that is the best thing that has ever happened to you. You continue to LOVE having conversations with us. You love to have tummy time and move all around on the floor playing with your toys.
Dislikes: Being tired and falling asleep. You have been fighting sleep lately. Sometimes you fight eating when you know it will make you fall asleep. You don't want to miss anything!
Health: You still have a bit of a congested nose, but it doesn't run. Hmmm.
Oh! And this: You are trying REALLY hard to crawl! You even get your knees underneath your body sometimes. You reach reach and wiggle like a worm. You try and try and try. You have also been trying to sit up. When you are in the Rock N Play you work those ab muscles trying to sit up and join us.
New Tricks: Trying to blow raspberries!

Elijah: 4 Months

Weight: 17 pounds 8.5 ounces
Height: 26.5 inches
Clothes: 6-9 months clothes. Some 12 month pants fit better than 9 month pants though they are way too long!
Diapers: Size 3 in disposables. But cloth we will be in OS for the long haul. You are starting to leak overnight sometimes. We need to start adding a doubler to the nighttime diaper.
Sleep: You still do a long stretch from 9ish until between 1 and 3ish. You still come in bed with me after that and sometimes sleep through and sometimes wake up every 90ish minutes. I wake up at 5:30 and feed you and then pump. Sometimes you actually will sleep through it all and wake up when I feed you again before I leave. On weekends you still love sleeping in with Mama! Mama loves it too! Yay 8:00! You sometimes take really good naps during the day. But other days you wake up after a short nap with wide open awake eyes. Now that you roll over back to front, we have to keep on eye on you while sleeping since you still sleep in your Woombie. When you start fussing while sleeping you often roll over, but since you are upset when you do it, we notice right away. When you fall asleep after eating when I get home from work you like to sleep on me. If I try to put you down, then you are all wide awake! It's fine. I love the snuggles!
Eating: You often eat for a longer amount of time on weekdays than the weekends even. You make up for what you don't eat during the day when Mama comes home after work. Occasionally you take half an ounce from Amanda or Grammy. But most of the time you hold out until I get home!
Likes: Snuggling with Mommy. Pulling fabric over your face: foof, burp cloth, cloth wipe while changing you (ick!), and Mama's clothes. Putting everything you can find into your mouth!  You LOVE to smile and when someone smiles at you, you give huge smiles back! You put EVERYTHING in your mouth lately, including Mommy's hair (I tell you that is a little icky). You also love to listen to the songs Auntie Erin recorded and sent us on Mommy's phone.
Dislikes: Getting your boogers sucked. You are pretty sure that it is equal to being stabbed with 5,000 knives.
Health: Everything was great at your appointment. You are doing great with all your motor milestones. You even keep thinking about crawling! You have tried several times to get your knees underneath you. We are nowhere near ready for that! You didn't even squawk when you got your shot this time!
Oh! And this: You have been babbling a lot. You use vocalizations to get our attention! You say "Ma" and "Mum" a lot. Though I would like to think you are calling me, unfortunately I know language development too well and know it is because those are the first sounds all babies develop!
New Tricks: You continue to roll back to front All. The. Time. You are starting to reach for Mommy once in a while. And you did it with Grammy too the other day! Melting hearts!
Firsts: Putting your paci in your mouth, you grab toys intentionally to look at and most often put in your mouth too!

Elijah: 16 Weeks

Weight: Based on us weighing you at home, you seem to be just about 17 pounds.
Height: no update
Clothes: Transitioning to 6-9 month onesies. You have been in 9 month pants. And some of those are too small. Your cloth diaper butt definitely contributes to that.
Diapers: You are in size 3 now. You wore disposables for the first time in a long time when we went away to stay in a hotel for a wedding for the weekend.
Sleep: You sleep your first stretch from 9ish until somewhere between 1 and 3. Then you come in bed with mommy and eat about every 90 minutes. Some babies find the "goods" on their own. You...not so much. You whack and prod and root until Mama helps you out. You usually wake up when I get out of bed and happily hang out in your Mamaroo while I get ready for work. Many times you fall asleep during your last feed right before I leave. Sometimes you are awake for Nanny Amanda though! On weekends you love to sleep in late in bed with me until I wake up for the day. I think part of the reason you are waking up more is that I am back at work and you aren't eating as much during the day, but I've also read this is very common for 4 months!
Eating: Sometimes you eat for 35 minutes and other times you are done after 5! You often fall asleep at the end of a feed and sleep-eat for a while. You usually have a burp a few minutes in and then you go back to eating for a while. You have decided that you have no need to eat during the day while Mommy is gone. Occasionally you will take half an ounce, but most of the time you are all, "Whatev. I'm not going to get upset about this. I'll just wait and eat when my Mommy comes home."
Likes: You LOVE to suck on your hands and your fingers. You have started sticking your flat hand in your mouth and almost gag yourself! You love any fabric. We can hand you a burp cloth to make you happy for a few minutes if there's no foof nearby. You are also super stoked to roll over all the time!
Dislikes: You do NOT like to wait and eat when you are tired and hungry. Especially before bed if we are changing your diaper and getting jammies on and you decide you want to eat NOW, you will close your eyes and screech until we comply!
Health: You are doing really well and we aren't going back to the chiropractor for 3 weeks now.
Oh! And this: We went to a wedding this weekend in Michigan to see Liz and Kim get married. You were awesome in the hotel and at the wedding. You got almost as much attention as the brides! You LOVED swimming in the hotel pool with Daddy. Too bad I forgot my suit! I am so happy that this was your first wedding and I hope that in the future it won't matter if the weddings you attend are two women, a man and a woman or two men, as long as they are filled with as much warmth and love as this one!
New Tricks: Rolling from back to front! You had been trying for a couple weeks and on August 26th you finally did it for Daddy! You did it for him 3 times that night before I saw. Now you won't stop! You love to roll over ALL THE TIME now! You try during diaper changes. And when we are putting you jammies on. And every time you are on your back! You are very proud of yourself every time you do it!
Firsts: Rolling over, hayride, apple picking, pool, and wedding!
